Are you fitting in or do you belong?

Yoga is not about the shapes you make, it is a return to the breath (prana).--Jesi Mifsud

I've jumped back on the yoga and meditation wagon (I admit, I had fallen off for a bit and I FELT it!).  I've been practicing at home; nothing fancy.  Just rolling out my mat, moving for an unspecified period of time and breathing.  Always coming back to the breath.  Game changer!

As for meditating, I prefer guided meditations and I'm using Calm, an app that is free for Kaiser members (reply to this email and I can guide you on how to get access to it).  This week I have been listening to Jay Shetty's Daily Meditations.  One of them was observing the difference between fitting in and belonging.

Here's how he posited it:  imagine an empty box you need to fill up with stuff that has to be stored.  You fill this box up haphazardly and when you go to tape the flaps shut, they don't close and it's just a mess.  This box is how it feels when you're trying to fit into a group that just aren't your people.  You feel stuffed into a space that's too small, too confining.

When you remove a few items, organize the box so it is more orderly, close the flaps completely and tape them shut, this is what it feels like when you BELONG.  There is no contortion, no artifice, just ease.

THIS is how I feel at Blue Door.  It is a space where I just fit.  And this is the sentiment I hear from each one of you.  Thank you for making Blue Door a place where we all belong.

Xx
