We are a micrcosm of the macrocosm

I don’t know about you, but 2026 and the Year of the Fire Horse is taking me for a ride! I knew that it was going to be a doozy of a year, but I, obviously, didn’t know quite how intense it was going to be.
I had a student come up to me before a Yoga for Stress Relief class and say that she hasn’t felt like herself. She just feels “off.” Her head feels weird, she doesn’t totally feel connected to her body, and she can’t figure it out. I pulled in the wisdom of Ayurveda to guide her in this moment.
I told her that in Ayurveda (the sister science to yoga—and if this is the first you’re hearing of this wonderful system, boy, do we need to talk!) we believe that we are a “microcosm of the macrocosm.” What that means is that we (individual human beings) are not separate from what is happening in the world and the Universe. We are all intimately connected. Thus, the chaos, the uncertainty, the sadness that is “out there” is also felt within us.
There are a lot of intense things happening in the world. On top of that we are in a seasonal shift, moving from winter to spring—Vata season to Kapha season in Ayurveda. On top of THAT we had a time change last weekend. All of this equals imbalance, not being able to find sure footing, not feeling quite ourselves.
How do we counterbalance all this?
*Dive deeply into routines.
*Have a set bedtime and wake-up time.
*Eat meals at set times. Eat whole foods that nourish the body and the soul.
*Get outside and commune with nature.
*Get some sun and reset your circadian rhythm.
*Have dinner with a friend.
*Laugh out loud.
*Start the day with a gratitude journal.
*Meditate.
*Practice yoga.
*Practice kindness.
All of this will help you feel less chaotic and more connected.
I hope this helps and I would love to hear how you’re navigating this moment in time. Also, I will be sharing some gratitude prompts in a separate email. Please keep an eye out for that. With my most heartfelt gratitude and love for our wonderful community that always helps me find balance,
Xx
Jesi
